Every submission is read by a person before it goes live. Usually the same day. If it is urgent, say so in the notes and it goes to the front.
Before you start, the three things that decide whether I can list it.

Listings come from churches and faith-based organizations holding to the historic Christian faith, as set out in the J217 statement of belief.

I will not list roles that put a volunteer with a child on their own: mentoring, tutoring, coaching, babysitting, or driving a young person, where the volunteer is recruited from the public. Activities where children are present and your own screened staff are running things are welcome: a back-to-school drive, a family meal, a workday, a sports morning.

I do not list campaigns. Anything held to support or oppose a candidate, a party, a ballot measure, or a bill is out, and so are rallies and marches. The mission does not belong to one party, and a board shared by churches across the Triangle stops working the day it looks like it belongs to a side. Serving people is not politics: feeding, housing, visiting, building, and giving are welcome whoever they are for.

The activity
Give it a short, plain name.
Pick the closest fit.
Collections get their own place on the board. Plenty of people have no free Saturdays but would happily fill a bag, and they will never find you under a listing that reads like a workday.
A short paragraph. Say plainly what the work is and who it helps. Describe the work in a sentence or two.
Optional, but a number here gets far better turnout than "come help".
When
Ongoing groups stay on the board until you ask me to take them down, so a weekly study does not need reposting.
Pick a start date and time in the future.
The end has to come after the start.
Plain words are fine. "Tuesdays, 7pm", "First Saturday of the month", "Drop off any weekday, 9 to 5". Tell people when it meets.
Where
Never published. It goes to the person reviewing the listing, and you pass it on to the volunteers who sign up. The board shows the venue name and the town only, so an activity at someone's home does not put their address online.
J217 covers the Triangle in North Carolina for now. If your town is not listed, say so in the notes below and I will add it. People filter the board by town, so this one matters.
Signing up
Your own page, form, or event listing. Copy and paste the address from your browser. People go straight to you, not through me. That does not look like a full web address.
Optional. If you ask people to sign something before taking part, link it here so they can read it in advance instead of meeting it at the door. Keep the file on your own site: I link to it, I do not host it, and I do not review it. That does not look like a working link.
Not published. This goes to whoever reviews the listing.
A word before you post. Most organizations running volunteer activities carry liability insurance, use a waiver or release, and screen anyone working with children or vulnerable adults. If your organization does not have those in place yet, it is worth sorting out before the day, whether or not you list here. I do not check any of this and cannot advise you on it, so please ask your own insurer or attorney.
